Step back in time and experience the legendary Alcatraz Island, a Civil War fort, a military prison, and one of the most notorious federal penitentiaries in US History. Hop on a ferry to "The Rock" and listen to the 45-minute audio "Doing Time" to acquaint yourself with its history. Once on Alcatraz Island, make your way up to the cell house prison building and receive an audio headset. Hear stories about actual correctional officers and prisoners, such as Al Capone and George "Machine Gun" Kelly who lived and worked on Alcatraz Island. Once the audio tour is over, continue taking pictures and exploring the island in your own time. Admire the San Francisco skyline views as you walk back down to the ferry landing and hop on the next ferry headed back to San Francisco. The Alcatraz ferry will leave on time at the designated time. You must arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time at Pier 33. Then, continue your day out by sailing along San Francisco's historic waterfront on a sightseeing cruise and admire the stunning San Francisco skyline. Glide past the Presidio, go beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, and around Alcatraz Island. Best of all, choose the day and departure time of your cruise.

The audio tour on Alcatraz was really well done, with original voices from inmates and guards. During the boat tour through the bay, we could only see the Golden Gate Bridge up close because of the fog. But that wasn't too bad, as we were surprised to see several whales and dolphins! However, the description of the meeting point for the boat tour was rather poor – we were directed to the end of the pier at Pier 39, but the meeting point was actually closer to Pier 41 (between 39 and 41) and was hard to miss when coming from Pier 39.

Excellent trip over to Alcatraz, well organised and easy to access. The audio guide gives you plenty of interesting information especially about the people that were sent there. You are able to enter a cell to see how small they are and most areas of the former prison are accessible. Definitely do this trip when visiting San Francisco.

El tour a Alcatraz fue impresionante para mí por todo lo que implica. El segundo tour lo disfruté mucho, fue una sorpresa para mí, un sunset bellísimo. Recomiendo este paquete ampliamente.
