Step back in time and experience the legendary Alcatraz Island, a Civil War fort, a military prison, and one of the most notorious federal penitentiaries in US History. Hop on a ferry to "The Rock" and listen to the 45-minute audio "Doing Time" to acquaint yourself with its history. Once on Alcatraz Island, make your way up to the cell house prison building and receive an audio headset. Hear stories about actual correctional officers and prisoners, such as Al Capone and George "Machine Gun" Kelly who lived and worked on Alcatraz Island. Once the audio tour is over, continue taking pictures and exploring the island in your own time. Admire the San Francisco skyline views as you walk back down to the ferry landing and hop on the next ferry headed back to San Francisco. The Alcatraz ferry will leave on time at the designated time. You must arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time at Pier 33. Then, continue your day out by sailing along San Francisco's historic waterfront on a sightseeing cruise and admire the stunning San Francisco skyline. Glide past the Presidio, go beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, and around Alcatraz Island. Best of all, choose the day and departure time of your cruise.
Very good trips
Very disappointed - thought we booked 4 hour boat ride that took us to Alcatraz- then from there, to a tour of the Bay., But Alcatraz was one boat at Pier 33 - then we had to get off that boat and walk to Pier 39 to get on another boat for the Bay Tour, which only had a few departure times. Wish this had been explained better in the ads. Also, terrible job of explaining how to get your tickets. Luckily we stopped at Walgreens in Union Square cause no one answered your phones and tickets were reissued or er totally would have missed the boat. Also we signed up for 10am departure and we were put in the 10:35 group. Really bad communication. But the cruises were wonderful. which we did not have to do. luckily we stopped at Walgreens in Union Dqusre the day before
Hi everyone, Firstly, it’s important to understand that these are two separate activities. You visit Alcatraz first, and then you’re given the timetable for the cruise. The Alcatraz tour is fine; it’s two standard tickets, but at least you can choose the day and time that suit you. As for the cruise: if you’re only staying in San Francisco for a short time, it takes you on a tour of the bay as far as the Golden Gate, but if you take the ferry to Sausalito, or cycle across the bridge ( which is amazing) , and visit Alcatraz, then there’s no point. Just by going to Alcatraz, you’ve already done part of the cruise. Ultimately, it’s quite an expensive option for a basic service, and I wouldn’t particularly recommend the cruise.
Overall good. Bay cruise wasn’t worth it after doing the Alcatraz tour.
