Step back in time and experience the legendary Alcatraz Island, a Civil War fort, a military prison, and one of the most notorious federal penitentiaries in US History. Hop on a ferry to "The Rock" and listen to the 45-minute audio "Doing Time" to acquaint yourself with its history. Once on Alcatraz Island, make your way up to the cell house prison building and receive an audio headset. Hear stories about actual correctional officers and prisoners, such as Al Capone and George "Machine Gun" Kelly who lived and worked on Alcatraz Island. Once the audio tour is over, continue taking pictures and exploring the island in your own time. Admire the San Francisco skyline views as you walk back down to the ferry landing and hop on the next ferry headed back to San Francisco. The Alcatraz ferry will leave on time at the designated time. You must arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time at Pier 33. Then, continue your day out by sailing along San Francisco's historic waterfront on a sightseeing cruise and admire the stunning San Francisco skyline. Glide past the Presidio, go beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, and around Alcatraz Island. Best of all, choose the day and departure time of your cruise.

Alcatraz was disappointing. Far too many people at one time made it difficult to experience the prison fully. Buildings on island very run down. Smell was dreadful. Much more can be done with the prison experience.

I wanted to compliment the staff at pier 33 and on the island for kindness and respect and accommodating handicap people like myself. They were great and made the excursion perfect

les visites sont correctes mêmes si la visite de la baie quand on a fait Alcatraz juste avant, nous fait juste voir le pont de san Francisco de plus prêt mais ça n'a pas une grande valeur ajoutée. les inconvénients de l'activité : les tickets sont à échanger en centre ville; le ticket récupéré pour la visite de la baie est encore à échanger une fois sur place pour choisir l'heure du bateau (car on prend un bateau pour Alcatraz à l'heure de la visite et un autre pour la visite de la baie où l'heure n'est pas défini vu que ça dépend de l'heure où on finit Alcatraz); on change de pier entre les 2 bateaux.
