Meet your tour guide at the tour office, located in the oldest neighborhoods of the Vatican, Borgo Pio. Following an introduction by your guide, walk through the charming shops of the Borgo and get some local tips for eating and sightseeing in Rome. Learn a bit about the history of the Sistine Chapel, and then head to the square as a group, passing along the Via della Conciliazione. Admire the flags and surrounding embassies as you walk through this street, which serve as the primary access point to St.Peter's Square. Arrive at St. Peter's Square, which is marked by a towering Egyptian obelisk and enveloped by columns and statues of saints. Hear about the history of the square and the legendary artist Bernini who designed it. En route to the Vatican Museums, see and hear about how residents of the smallest city in the word go about their day-to-day life. Snap a photo of the Swiss guards the pontifical bodyguards in their distinctly Renaissance uniforms. Then, slowly head towards the museum's entrance, where you will be led to a special area reserved for skip-the-line groups. Walk through an astonishing collection of Roman and Greek statues, the Gallery of Tapestries, and the Gallery of Maps. Admire Michelangelo's famous works, including the Creation of Adam and the Last Judgement at the Sistine Chapel. This spectacular fresco evokes lifelike images within the mind, vividly portraying stories of mankind in the biblical era. Finish off your tour with St. Peter's Basilica. You will be brought in front of St.Peter's Church, where a special entrance will allow you to enter directly from the museum and bypass the long queue out in the square. Got questions? The tour was recommended by a friend who done it the day before. It was very well organised and really informative. The fast passes meant fast passes too. The only thing I would say to improve upon is helping people find their bearings to leave the tourist area which I my case was different from pick up. Just highlighting key areas to help someone find their way back would be helpful. Otherwise fantastic tour.
Shaka was a Great Guide !
Tour guide was very good and had a lot of knowledge about the Vatican and the Roman times. However a lot of what was talked about seemed to be more about the artists who painted there, rather than the history of the Vatican. The Vatican is excessively busy and chaotic and you are urged to rush through rooms instead of being able to properly look at everything, you also don’t know what you will actually be able to see until you get in due to seeing how busy it is and what the museum staff will let you look at on the day. Most of what we ended up seeing wasn’t really anything to do with the Vatican or Rome so was very disappointing. The Sistine chapel was amazing and worth seeing. Expect a lot of queues and rushing around through rooms with so many people you barely get to look at anything. Very expensive considering what you get to see and in my opinion not worth the money, but still glad to see the the sistine chapel.
