Your VIP Colosseum underground tour begins with the Hypogeum. The Hypogeum is a suggestive place, with narrow corridors and large blocks of travertine, where gladiators waited for the moment of glory. As you wander deep into its dungeons, you will almost hear the air resonate with their fierce battle cries, and the growls and roars of the animals, tired, hungry, ready to feast on their prey. The tour was excellent. The guide was excellent. The only thing constructively I would say is in the information/ instructions they told you to be there 20 minutes early but in reality, the guide wanted you there 30 minutes early. So I had to run to make sure I didn’t hold up our group. I have no complaints. The guide even called me and waited for me. It was wonderful.

Jorge was a fantastic tour guide who really made the experience worth it. He was very knowledgeable, attentive and funny as a guide, being able to answer every question that was asked on the day and be full of stories and facts at every point of the tour he took. Time went very quickly and definitely felt like we had learned a lot of interesting information about what we were seeing throughout the tour. The only drawback on the experience was that the tickets for the underground part of the tour was lead by a different guide and we were put with a different group which was all in Italian with no translator earpiece in which we were not aware of when purchasing tickets - we wanted more of Jorge’s expert knowledge for all of the tour! Jorge did make an effort to preface everything that would be said about the underground part so we were aware but wasn’t quite what we were expecting. The concept photos at each stage we very helpful in painting a true picture of the original structures.

This tour with Silvia was the highlight of our trip. Silvia was fantastic and so accommodating. She answered all our questions, but also let us take all pictures and videos we wanted while moving us along the tour naturally and on time. If I could take Silvia to all my Rome tours I would. Highly recommend!

Claudia was an amazing tour guide. She was punctual, knowledgeable, patient and kind. She took the time to go into detail about the history of the coliseum. We learned so much. Seeing the underground level was just incredible! We had a great group of people with us as well. Everyone got along well, in fact we made a few new friends! Even tho it rained on us during the tour Claudia still was determined to give us the best experience. And she delivered 100+%! There should not be last minute change in the tour. We got an email message saying that colosseum underground tour is now going to be in Italian not English. That part of tour also includes arena area. Those 2 parts were the most imp of the tour when we paid this high price for it. There was no other option at last minute to cancel since it was within last 24 hours. Very unprofessional way from the tour agency.
