The Forum and Palantine hill were excellent, the guide great. She handed us off to a different guide for the Colosseum and it all went to the trash from there. Our guide, while knowledgeable, was very rude. When we first started in the underground, we were so in awe and so excited to be there, and knowing we wouldn’t get a chance to do it ever again, took photos to remember our excitement. We even rushed the photos so we’d be done before he got started. We were chastised for having a photo shoot and not respecting his job. After that we were afraid to take any photos, which was a shame, since memories fade. Then, on the arena floor, we were surprised to see cats sunbathing on the ledges, so also took photos of them. Imagine how disheartened we were to hear him belittling us to other guests for it. We left feeling really upset…all 8 of us. We are professional, middle aged family members, not children or vapid influencers.
