The time selected for your booking refers to the timing at the Touristation office, Piazza D'Ara Coeli 16. Embark on an educational adventure with a tour of the most important sites in Rome — ideal for introducing you to the history of the city. Then, you can walk through history and discover close the temples and the numerous archaeological finds from the excavations and demolitions that affected the area between 1926 and 1930. You can admire the four temples dating back to between the 4th and 1st centuries BC, and the remains that guard the tuff base of the Curia of Pompey, the site of the assassination of the emperor Julius Caesar on the Ides of March 44 BC, as reported by ancient sources . The sacred area also preserves numerous testimonies of its uninterrupted life for over 2000 years, such as the imperial phases of the temples or the medieval age structures.
It was good, though I came specifically to see where the assassination took place and that was not possible as the viewing area does not include the maybe a single path down the middle into that area in order to more appreciate the ruins in that area. I had to see those from the street once I left.
Es buena idea incluir guía en audífono para todo Roma
You definitely can see this site without buying tickets. It was interesting, but not really worth buying tickets.
Honestly, was a bit underwhelming. The audio guide did not line up with what we were seeing and it was confusing. Not sure it’s worthwhile doing. I was disappointed because I was excited about the tour. A lot of cats in the sanctuary seems pretty sick too so that was sad to see.
Found out that if we bought tickets direct from the attraction we would have saved over £20 and not had the walk or wait at the tour office. We will know for next time.
very interesting, especially knowing the history and that Julius Caesar was assassinated there.
