From up among sparkling glaciers and down to a land of palms, the Panoramic Bernina Express offers a change of scene like no other. No other railway links north to south in such a wonderful manner on trains with glass-topped panoramic cars. In the morning, depart by bus from Milan Piazza della Repubblica to the cosmopolitan city of St. Moritz. Upon arrival, enjoy time at your disposal for a panoramic walk along the lake area, some shopping, or sweet-tasting in one of the delicious local pastry shops. In the afternoon, head over to the train station and get seated in the guaranteed panoramic carriage on board the Bernina Express Train bound for Tirano. Experience one of life’s finest cultural and natural-world experiences on a train that traverses no fewer than 55 tunnels and 196 bridges, easily tackling inclines of up to 70 mm/m along the way. Admire the view as the train travels into the mountains. Gaze in awe at the panoramas of the Morteratsch Glacier and the world-famous Montebello Curve. Continue past the lakes of Lago Bianco e Laj Neir up to Alp Gruem. Arrive in Tirano before boarding a bus to make the return journey to Milan with a scheduled arrival in the late evening.

  • St. Moritz is a seasonal mountain resort. Some shops and restaurants may have reduced hours during spring and autumn inter-season periods. From late October to late February, visibility of the landscape from the train windows may be reduced in the afternoon due to earlier sunset times. That said, the scenery and the train journey are extraordinary in every season.
  • Comfortable walking shoes recommended. Weather in the Alps can change quickly — bring a light layer.

Escursione impegnativa ma strepitosa. Siamo partiti alle 9.10 da Milano, arrivati a s. Moritz alle 12.40 nonostante 40 min di pausa lungo il tragitto che potevano essere anche ridotti. Siamo stati a s Moritz sino alle 3.30, poi Bernina express sino alle 18 per Tirano. Infine due ore e mezza di bus x tornare a Milano. Itinerante , stancante , ma vedi posti bellissimi , magici, un po di Alpi che vedevo solo nel cartone animato di Heidi. Splendido il ghiacciaio Grum , bravissima la guida Cristina che ci ha assistito lungo tutto il viaggio.

Fuimos con Cristina que es una persona maravillosa! Ha hablado en 3 idiomas todo el día sin ninguna dificultad y fue extremadamente amable con todos nosotros demostrando una paciencia infinita. Massimo fue nuestro conductor y demostró una habilidad extraordinaria en el camino de montaña. El último tramo se hizo de noche y no pudimos disfrutar del paisaje pero el resto del dia fue estupendo. Más que recomendable!!
