Description

Cambridge University & Kings College Walking Tour By Alumni™

Walk through Cambridge with someone who truly knows it from the inside. Every tour is led by a Cambridge student or graduate who combines personal experience with a deep knowledge of the university’s history, architecture, and enduring traditions. As you explore the ancient streets and courtyards, your guide will reveal the secrets, stories, and spirit that make Cambridge one of the most extraordinary places in the world. This 90-minute walking tour covers the heart of the university, including iconic landmarks such as the Eagle Pub, where the discovery of DNA was first announced; the Mathematical Bridge, a masterpiece of design; the Senate House, where degrees are awarded; and King’s College on the Backs, framed by the River Cam and its famous willow trees. Along the way, you’ll gain insight into the lives of those who studied and taught here — from Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin to Stephen Hawking, Virginia Woolf, and Srinivasa Ramanujan. The tour takes place entirely outdoors, offering a relaxed yet engaging route through Cambridge’s cobbled lanes, quiet courts, and picturesque river views. You’ll see the city’s most admired colleges from the outside while hearing the real stories that bring them to life — tales of student life, historic rivalries, and groundbreaking discoveries. Your guide will also share personal anecdotes about what it’s like to study at Cambridge today, bridging the past and present in an experience that’s as authentic as it is inspiring. If selected when booking, your journey continues after the walking tour with optional self-guided entry to King’s College Chapel, the architectural crown jewel of Cambridge. Step inside to admire its magnificent fan-vaulted ceiling, stunning stained glass, and centuries-old choir stalls. It’s one of England’s most breathtaking Gothic landmarks — and the perfect way to complete your Cambridge adventure. Whether you’re visiting for the first time, returning as an alum, or simply curious about one of the world’s most prestigious universities, this tour offers an insider’s perspective you won’t find anywhere else. The tour guide student alumni was pretty cool. He knew the answers to almost everything. And his lived experience was super helpful. Wish we could have been able to enter one building- but didn’t. That would have helped.

Alles in Allem war die Tour ok..aber für uns fings ein bisschen zu schnell.Unser Guide war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Es gab viel Information, also super interssant.

Our guide John was amazing. As an alumni (and PhD in History from Cambridge), he was both knowledgeable and entertaining with lots of patience for our many questions. I can highly recommend these guided tours with college alumnis.
